体の不自由なお年寄りが制作した初の陶芸作品展が小田急線新百合ヶ丘駅近くのカフェ「コージェ」（原匡範店長、同区万福寺1-16-7）で開かれ、評判を呼んでいる。

この作品展は、川崎市麻生区上麻生３丁目の介護老人施設「つくしの里」に入居する70、80代のお年寄り17人が作った皿、マグカップ、抹茶茶わん、一輪挿し、歯ブラシ立てなど74点。緑、紺、えんじ、黒などの落ち着いた色合いのゆう薬をかけた茶わんや、色の違う粘土を重ねて延ばし、自然な風合いを楽しむ「練り込み」技法の皿、魚の形にカラフルな線を入れた作品などいずれも見事なできばえ。
「つくしの里」では、入居しているお年寄りに楽しく生活してもらうため様々なクラブ活動を行っている。
陶芸もその一つで、同区金程で新百合陶芸くらぶ（陶房・電話044-954-7347)を主宰する陶芸家坂秀子さんと娘の薫さんの指導で昨年４月に始まった。
体が不自由な人でほとんどが初心者のため、１回の参加人数は８人に限定しており、1カ月３回の活動ペースでひとつの作品を完成させている。なかには片手だけで制作する人や軽度のボケ症状の人もいるが、坂さん親子のゆったりとやさしい指導で、制作中はみな生き生きした表情で楽しい時を過ごしており、普段はなかなか動かない手もよく動き、心身ともにリハビリ効果も高いという。
できあがった作品を施設内に展示したり、自室に飾ったりした影響もあって、参加希望者が増え、いまは作品をひとつ作ると交替する方式を取っている。
指導者の坂さんは「始めて１年にならないが、いろいろなキャリアを積んだ方が多く、『この皿で懐石料理を盛りたい』など意欲的に製作している。ぜひ多くの人に見てもらいたい」と話している。
今回の展示は、年を重ねても意欲的に過ごすお年寄りや、介護施設への理解を深めようと開かれた。
「コージェ」は、多摩区で美容室を経営する原三人さんの２号店で、昨年9月にオープンした。客にゆったりくつろげる場所を提供しようと、整体マッサージと本格的な食事ができるカフェを併設。また、芸術の街・新百合ヶ丘にふさわしい空間をと美容室とカフェを仕切るガラスの壁に「カスタマーズ・ギャラリー」を設置、新感覚のコラボレーション施設として女性客の人気を呼んでいる。
ギャラリーコーナーのオープニングはガラス工芸のプロ作家による作品展、その後は美容室の顧客の手作り品などを展示した。つくしの里の陶芸展は３回目の作品展で、１〜２カ月間展示する予定。
展示時間は午前10時〜午後10時で火曜日は休み。
